PRESS RELEASE:
Baltimore, Md. (September 10, 2012)—Woofound, a maker of web and mobile products that help users discover things to do, is pleased to announce that it has raised more than $1 million in its latest round of funding, bringing the total amount raised to $2.2 million.
The latest round of funding includes sources from private investors, as well as a $75,000 investment from the Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO). Woofound was among 16 Maryland startups to receive funding from TEDCO, as part of TEDCO’s Maryland Technology Transfer and Commercialization Fund (MTTCF). MTTCF provides funding to companies that want to develop technology-based products or services in collaboration with the universities and/or federal labs in the State.
“We’re honored to receive this investment from TEDCO to help us further develop our Career Application,” says Co-CEO Dan Sines. “All of our backers have provided tremendous support, not just financially, and we are grateful for their commitment to Woofound.”
Woofound currently offers a free iPhone app that uses a signature visual personality game to match people to places and things to do based on their personality and preferences. Woofound is also piloting a Career Application with University of Maryland Baltimore County and Towson University, which uses the visual personality game to present students with career choices that best suit their personality. Additional applications, including an Android version of the mobile app, are currently in development.
