Terawatt Ventures, an investment firm focused on innovative energy technologies, today announced the appointment of Prapti Mittal as Principal.
“Our firm is growing in response to the structural opportunity in energy investing: innovation and entrepreneurship is surging in response to global energy and resource challenges, yet the venture capital industry is retrenching. There are simply more high quality opportunities for us,” said Mark Goodman, founder of Terawatt. “Prapti comes to Terawatt with a strong business and engineering background and a passion for solving the world’s energy and resource challenges. She will be responsible for sourcing new deals and working with existing portfolio companies.”
Before joining Terawatt, Prapti worked at the World Bank where she built robust quantitative frameworks to optimize drinking water and sanitation delivery models affecting millions of lives in rural India. She began her career as an Environmental Engineer at URS Corporation, one of the largest global environmental consulting firms based in California. At URS, she advised several major U.S. oil and gas companies and utilities on environmental risk mitigation and clean energy initiatives. While attending Harvard Business School, Prapti interned with several cleantech start-ups and VCs in the United States and South Asia, including General Catalyst Partners, the Global Environment Fund and HARA Software.
“Terawatt has a unique approach to energy technology investing and an exciting portfolio of companies. Its multi-stage, multi-sector approach is an ideal fit for me,” said Mittal. “I look forward to working with entrepreneurs who are building technology-driven companies that are solving some of the world’s most pressing challenges.”
Prapti holds a BS in Civil Engineering from Punjab Engineering College (India), an MS in Civil and Environment Engineering from University of California, Berkeley, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
