Canadian Dealmakers, which recognizes contributions to the M&A market, held its 2012 awards gala in Toronto on February 27, 2013. Among the winners were several companies involved in private equity transactions. CGI Group Inc., a portfolio company of the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, won in both the IT and Foreign Outbound categories, while GENIVAR Inc., backed by the Caisse and CPPIB, won in Industrials. DHX Media Ltd. also took the prize for its purchase of Cookie Jar Group, owned by Birch Hill Equity Partners and OMERS Private Equity, while Entertainment One Ltd., backed by Marwyn Investment Management, was awarded for its buy of Alliance Films Inc.
