GRP Partners is appointing Greg Bettinelli as venture partner. He joins from online flash-sale retailer HauteLook.
GRP Partners, one of the oldest and largest venture capital firms in Los Angeles, has announced that it is expanding its partner ranks for the first time in the past six years by adding Greg Bettinelli who joins from HauteLook.
Greg will have full investment authority at GRP and initially focus on companies in ecommerce, marketplaces and consumer applications. He will also play a broader role in helping GRP portfolio companies with customer growth initiatives.
“I have known Greg for nearly five years and have the utmost respect for his knowledge of online marketing, his quantitative skills and his directness in communicating with others. I have introduced him to several portfolio companies, and the feedback has always been exemplary.” said Mark Suster, Managing Partner at GRP.
Greg spent nearly four years at HauteLook, a leading online flash-sale retailer based in Los Angeles. He joined the business in its early phase of growth and as CMO helped drive it to over 12 million registered users and far in excess of $200 million in annual sales. HauteLook was acquired by Nordstrom in 2011 for $270 million.
Greg has also long been a strong contributor and promoter of the rapidly expanding Los Angeles technology community. In 2011, he co-founded MuckerLab, a prominent Santa Monica based accelerator mentoring twenty young and exciting companies to date.
Earlier in his career, Greg held leadership positions at eBay where he led the Event Ticketing and Media categories and championed the successful 2007 acquisition of StubHub for $310 million. He then spearheaded StubHub’s landmark strategic distribution partnership with Major League Baseball.
Greg was drawn to the investment side of the fence after developing strong operational knowledge. “I’ve been proud to make Los Angeles my home and enjoyed watching and participating in the explosion of the technology community over the past five years. GRP has been an important catalyst for building this expansion from the very start and is the most active today. I’m excited to now be a part of that.”
Despite his Los Angeles love he remains an avid San Francisco Giants and 49ers fan. GRP loves him anyways.
