Ex-Scientific Games CEO Joins Providence Equity

Joe Wright, the recently-retired CEO of Scientific Games Corp., has joined Providence Equity Partners as a senior advisor.

Providence Equity Partners, the leading global private equity investment firm specializing in media, entertainment, communications and information companies, announced today that Joseph R. Wright has joined the firm as a Senior Advisor. He will advise Providence on new investment opportunities and on certain of its existing portfolio companies.

Mr. Wright recently retired as Chief Executive Officer of Scientific Games Corporation, a leading supplier of server based systems and services to lotteries worldwide. Previously he was Chairman of Intelsat, the world’s leading provider of satellite/fiber services, from 2006 to 2008 and, prior to this position, from 2001 to 2006, served as President and CEO of PanAmSat, a publicly-listed satellite-based services business. Providence acquired PanAmSat with co-investors in 2004, and Intelsat acquired the Company in 2006. Mr. Wright previously served as Chairman of GRC International, a provider of advanced information technology, Internet and software technologies to government and commercial customers, which was acquired by AT&T, and he was Co-Chairman of Baker & Taylor Holdings, an international book, video and software distribution and e-commerce company.

Mr. Wright currently serves on the Boards of the following publicly traded companies: Scientific Games, Cowen Group, Inc., Federal Signal Corp. and Terremark Worldwide, Inc. He was appointed by Secretary Robert Gates as a member of the Defense Business Board. Previously, President H.W. Bush assigned Mr. Wright to the President’s Export Council, President’s Commission on the United States Postal Service and National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee. Under President Reagan, he served as Director of the Federal Office of Management and Budget in the Executive Office of the President and a member of the Cabinet, and previously as Deputy Secretary of Commerce. He was awarded the Distinguished Citizens Award by President Reagan. Mr. Wright received a Master of Industrial Administration Degree from Yale University and a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from the Colorado School of Mines.
