Gaikai Inc., the innovative cloud based game streaming service, today announced the appointment of Brendan Iribe as its Chief Creative Officer and Senior Vice President of User Experience.
Mr. Iribe was the former co-founder, President and CEO of Scaleform and led the company to become the #1 video game User Interface (UI) technology provider in the world before being acquired by Autodesk in March 2011. Under his leadership, Scaleform’s products have been licensed for over 800 games across all major game platforms. With over 15 years in the game industry, Iribe guided Scaleform to be one of the fastest-growing tools and middleware companies, securing relationships with leading developers, publishers, and technology companies worldwide, and spearheading Scaleform’s expansion in Japan, China, and South Korea. In his role as President and CEO of Scaleform, Iribe oversaw all aspects of product development, marketing, sales, and business development.
“Gaikai’s streaming game technology runs on many different devices and displays, giving us a very complex user interface challenge. Even more importantly, we need to create a compelling eco-system for developers to target. To tackle this, there’s no better choice than hiring the #1 user interface and middleware guru in the video game industry, that’s Brendan”, said David Perry, CEO Gaikai Inc.
”After following the cloud gaming initiatives for several years, I’m very excited to be joining Gaikai, especially given their unique business strategy and advanced GPU server infrastructure.” said Brendan Iribe. “Building out an integrated ecosystem and scalable platform that appeals to both developers and consumers will help establish Gaikai as the leading interactive cloud platform.”
