Buyout shop HarbourVest Partners has promoted David Atterbury to the post of managing director, and promoted ten other individuals to principal and vice president. In Europe, Carolina Espinal de Carulla, Claudio Siniscalco and Hannah Tobin have been promoted to Principal; and Craig MacDonald has been promoted to Vice President. In Asia, Tim Flower has been promoted to Principal; and Kelvin Yap and Maggie Chan have been promoted to Vice President. And in the U.S., Ian Lane and Aris Hatch have been promoted to Principal; and McComma Grayson has been promoted to Vice President.

Ten other individuals from around the globe and across the Firm’s investment and client relations team have been promoted to Principal and Vice President. These promotions illustrate HarbourVest’s continued commitment to build and maintain one of the most experienced teams in the private equity industry worldwide.
David Atterbury Promoted to Managing Director
Since joining HarbourVest’s secondary team in 2004 in London (HarbourVest Partners (U.K.) Limited), David Atterbury has made significant contributions to the Firm. He was instrumental in sourcing and leading several complex secondary deals, including this year’s acquisition of Absolute Private Equity; the spin-out of Newquest Capital from Bank of America/Merrill Lynch in Hong Kong; and Clyde Blowers II’s acquisition of several assets. Additionally, David currently serves on the advisory boards of funds managed by ABÉNEX Capital, Clyde Blowers Capital, and Vision Capital Limited.
David has been active in private equity for more than 15 years, including positions with Abbey National Treasury Services, where he developed a direct private equity portfolio and subsequently disposed of a large diversified portfolio of partnership commitments and direct holdings; and with PricewaterhouseCoopers, which included a one-year assignment to Bridgepoint Capital in London.
Europe Team Promotions
HarbourVest has been an active investor in European private equity since 1984 and established a local team in London in 1990 (HarbourVest Partners (U.K.) Limited). Carolina Espinal de Carulla, Claudio Siniscalco, and Hannah Tobin have been promoted to Principal; and Craig MacDonald has been promoted to Vice President.
Carolina Espinal joined HarbourVest in 2004. She focuses on evaluating and monitoring European venture capital and buyout partnership investments and has collaborated with the secondary group on several investment opportunities. She currently serves on the advisory boards of funds managed by ABÉNEX Capital, ECI, Inflexion, and Litorina Capital Advisors.
Claudio Siniscalco joined HarbourVest in 2007 and focuses on direct co-investments in growth equity and buyout transactions in Europe, as well as originating credit investments. He serves as a board member of Panda Security, Polynt, and TynTec. Claudio’s prior experience includes positions at Audley Capital, Investcorp, Hicks Muse, and Salomon Brothers.
Hannah Tobin joined HarbourVest in 1996. She spent five years in Boston focused on primary investments in U.S. venture and buyout managers and relocated to the London team in 2001. Today, Hannah manages relationships with European investors and consultants.
Craig MacDonald joined HarbourVest in Boston in 2005 and moved to London in 2009. He currently focuses on direct co-investments in Europe. Craig has worked on investments including Alexander Forbes, Paris Re, Sepaton, and Xpressdocs.
Asia Team Promotions
Within the Asia team (HarbourVest Partners (Asia) Limited), Tim Flower has been promoted to Principal; and Kelvin Yap and Maggie Chan have been promoted to Vice President.
Tim Flower focuses on secondary investments in Asia, including traditional, structured, and secondary direct transactions. He joined HarbourVest in London in 2008 and transferred to Hong Kong in 2010. Tim’s prior experience includes positions with Bridgepoint, MCF Corporate Finance, Nordea Securities, and Ernst & Young.
Kelvin Yap joined HarbourVest in 2006 and relocated to Hong Kong in 2009. He focuses on partnership and direct co-investments in Asia Pacific. He started with HarbourVest as part of the London team and has been involved in investments, including Avio, Finjan, Minimax, MYOB, Schenck Process, Trainline, and TynTec.
Maggie Chan joined HarbourVest in 2007 and focuses on client relations and marketing activities in the Asia Pacific region. Maggie’s prior experience includes positions with ING Group in Hong Kong.
U.S. Team Promotions
HarbourVest’s U.S. team will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2012. Ian Lane and Aris Hatch have been promoted to Principal; and McComma Grayson has been promoted to Vice President.
Ian Lane joined HarbourVest in 2003 as part of the Firm’s associate program and returned to the Firm after receiving his MBA. He focuses on direct co-investments in venture, buyout, and mezzanine transactions and serves as a board member at Acclaris, Batanga, Miller Heiman, Nexidia, Plato Learning, ReCommunity, Sepaton, and Wayfair.
Aris Hatch joined HarbourVest in 2008 to manage and enhance relationships with North America-based investors and consultants. Her prior experience includes positions with Rock Maple Funds, Advent International, and Ernst &Young.
McComma Grayson joined HarbourVest in Boston in 2007 and focuses on primary investments in U.S. venture, buyout, and credit, as well as cleantech, energy, and real assets. His prior experience includes three years with Morgan Stanley.
