DFJ India’s Andra Jumps to VentureEast

Sateesh Andra, former venture partner with DFJ India, has left to join VentureEast, where he will lead a new fund in India.

It was earlier reported that Andra would raise a $50 million early-stage pool, VentureEast Tenet Fund, earmarked for tech deals. Andra will serve as managing partner. His tenure with DFJ India ended in late 2012.

According to his bio with DFJ India, Andra sat on the boards of Live Media and Gingersoft Media. He was also founder and CEO of Euclid, an IT management software firm.

Brand-name U.S. venture capital firms have had some difficulty retaining key personnel in emerging markets like India and China. Kleiner Perkins has seen key staff defections in China, while Sequoia Capital lost a number of VCs in India recently.
