Fulcrum Equity Partners Closes Second Fund with $93 Million

Fulcrum Equity Partners, an Atlanta-based growth equity firm, has closed its second fund with more than $93 million; the firm says it was targeting $75 million. Fulcrum’s first, $40 million, fund closed in 2006.

Fulcrum Equity Partners (“Fulcrum”), an Atlanta-based growth equity firm, today announced the closing of its second fund, Fulcrum Growth Fund II, LLC (“FGF II”), with capital commitments in excess of $93 million, surpassing its target of $75 million.

One of Fulcrum’s key strategies is to recruit successful entrepreneurs to the investor group, and FGF II now has more than 90 current and former CEOs from a wide range of industries.

“The deep business experience of our investors is a very rich resource for the Fulcrum Funds and our portfolio companies,” said Jeff Muir, a partner at Fulcrum. “Many LPs have provided value-added support and guidance, including referring quality deals, assisting with due diligence, providing relevant industry experience and making strategic introductions.” FGF II also significantly increased the number of family offices and institutional investors in its investor group.

Fulcrum is actively seeking opportunities to invest in rapidly growing companies, and FGF II has already invested in eight new portfolio companies. Fulcrum’s prior fund, Fulcrum Fund I, LLC, is a $40 million fund that commenced in 2006 and invested in 11 portfolio companies, while completing 29 financings. Fund I has had four successful exits and already returned 157 percent of contributed capital.
