Shasta Strengthens Enterprise Practice With New EIR, Venture Advisor

Shasta Ventures is strengthening its enterprise practice by bringing in Jayaram Bhat as an entrepreneur in residence and Issac Roth as a venture advisor.

Both entrepreneurs have worked with the firm before. Bhat was CEO of Shasta-funded Zenprise, acquired by Citrix Systems, and Roth co-founded Makara, which Red Hat acquired.

Managing Director Jason Pressman says the firm is a quarter of the way through its third fund and will maintain or increase its pace of enterprise investing. Historically, about half of Shasta-funded companies are enterprise focused.

The firm normally has one EIR, but now it has three people, including Bhat and Roth, in similar roles, he said.

Bhat will explore new business ideas and help evaluate enterprise companies, particularly those in the mobile space, according to a press release.

Roth joins Shasta from Red Hat and will work with the firm’s enterprise software companies. He could eventually form his own startup, says Pressman.
