Black Lotus has secured $3.5 million led by Industry Capital and has appointed Arman Khalili to its board of directors. Black Lotus is a service provider for data centers, telecommunications carriers and hosting providers.
Black Lotus, a leader in availability security and provider of distributed denial of service (DDoS) protection, today announced the completion of its first institutional financing in the amount of $3.5 million led by Industry Capital and the addition of Arman Khalili to its board of directors. Khalili is the principal advisor at Industry Capital and was previously an operational advisor at Harbor Ridge Capital and a serial entrepreneur. He was the founder of San Francisco’s largest managed colocation provider UnitedLayer, the first secured email company NeXTLayer and the first licensed music subscription company MusicBank. Black Lotus will use the funding to facilitate the company’s continued rapid growth in the information security sector, including strategic acquisitions and global expansion of the Black Lotus DDoS defense network.
Black Lotus has established itself as the de facto service provider for data centers, telecommunications carriers, and hosting providers that require a holistic approach to DDoS attack defense and extended protection into their service portfolios. The strategic investment from Industry Capital will fund entry into new markets, where Black Lotus will deploy additional capacity and improve quality of service through peering and closer proximity to global partner networks.
“This funding marks a pivotal chapter in Black Lotus’ growth, and it will allow our company to establish a presence in new markets throughout North and South America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia, enabling rapid deployment of DDoS mitigation IP infrastructure,” said Shawn Marck, founder of Black Lotus.
Arman Khalili, principal at San Francisco-based private equity firm Industry Capital, said, “The company has a proven track record of successfully helping service providers, enterprises and end users against massive, complex DDoS attacks, and our partnership with the company is a smart investment. We have been impressed with the quality, expertise and dedication of the Black Lotus team, and we look forward to partnering with the company to expand and accelerate its growth.”
