VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA–(Marketwired – Dec. 9, 2013) – LX Ventures Inc. (TSX VENTURE:LXV) (“LXV” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce that Ryan Holmes has joined the Board of Advisors, effective December 9, 2013.
Ryan Holmes is the CEO of Vancouver based HootSuite. Thought leader, dog lover and serial entrepreneur, he has redefined the face of social media – bringing Twitter, Facebook and other social networks out of the dorm room and into the boardroom.
Holmes has grown HootSuite from a lean startup to a global leader in social media with 8 million users, including 79 of the Fortune 100 companies. HootSuite recently raised $165 million US in a Series B funding, representing the largest deal ever in Canadian venture capital history for a software company. Part of HootSuite’s continued growth strategy is an interest in acquiring companies compatible with its vision of specialized apps for social management.
Holmes entrepreneurial endeavors include successes in a variety of industries from founding a pizza restaurant chain to building the top online paintball equipment supplier in Canada before founding Invoke, the agency that created the popular social media dashboard tool. Today, Holmes is an authority on the social business revolution, quoted in The New York Times and Wall Street Journal and called upon to speak at TEDx and SXSW Interactive Conferences.
Mike Edwards, CEO of LXV commented, “We are delighted to have Ryan join our world class Advisory Board at this time. Ryan is a recognized business builder and global leader in social media, and his experience will directly benefit all of our portfolio companies as they continue to accelerate.”
Mr. Holmes added, “The team at LX Ventures is changing the landscape for technology companies in Canada, which is something I am passionate about, so I am excited to get involved. Mike Edwards and I share a common background, and I see unlimited potential for the business model his team is executing on.”
