Marsh & McLennan hires former NAIC president as communications chief

Marsh & McLennan Companies has hired Ed Dandridge as chief communications officer. Dandridge joins from Collective, a digital technology company where he worked as chief marketing officer. Dandridge also worked at Nielsen as chief communication officer, BrandSphere and Disney’s ABC Television Network. Notably, Dandridge also worked as president and chief executive of the National Association of Investment Companies, an industry trade group representing diverse private equity firms. In this role, Dandridge, among other things, worked to highlight concerns about the California Public Employees’ Retirement System’s emerging manager investment program.

Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc. (NYSE: MMC) today announced that Edward L. Dandridge has joined the Company as chief communications officer.

In this role, Mr. Dandridge will be responsible for strategy and leadership of global corporate communications for Marsh & McLennan Companies, including media, public relations, and internal communications. Mr. Dandridge will report to Marsh & McLennan Companies Executive Vice President and General Counsel Peter J. Beshar and Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer Laurie Ledford. He will be based in New York.

Mr. Dandridge joins Marsh & McLennan Companies from Collective, a digital technology company, where he served as chief marketing officer. Previously, he was chief communications officer at Nielsen [NYSE:NLSN] from 2008 – 2011, where he structured the company’s global communications and marketing organization and managed the Nielsen brand in more than 100 markets.

Prior to Nielsen, he was managing partner at BrandSphere, a consultancy specializing in external relations and issues management, for eight years. Before that, he served as vice president at Disney’s ABC Television Network, where he managed digital program promotions, public affairs, and public relations, preceded by six years at The Sawyer Miller Group, where he led the corporate branding practice. Mr. Dandridge also previously served as president and CEO of the National Association of Investment Companies, an industry trade group representing small private equity and venture firms.

Mr. Dandridge graduated cum laude from Tufts University and received a JD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law.
