Testbirds said Friday that it has closed 2.1 million euros in Series A funding. French VC firm Seventure Partners led the round. Headquartered in Munich, Testbirds is a crowdtesting service provider.
Munich, 21th of March 2014– Testbirds, the leading crowdtesting provider in Europe, receives a round of Series A funding worth € 2.1 million. The leading investor is the French venture capital firm Seventure Partners. Testbirds will capitalize the fund to expand its business within Europe, extend its existing services and add new service levels to the portfolio.
“We are grateful to have Seventure on board with us, allowing us to strengthen our position as the leading crowdtesting provider in Europe”, says Philipp Benkler, co-founder and managing director of Testbirds. Renowned clients such as 1&1, Allianz, Deutsche Post and RedBull already use the crowdtesting service of the company. “With an increase of 3000 testers each month, our clients have access to a worldwide pool of real-life users and experts who test on a whole range of devices”, adds Georg Hansbauer, also co-founder and managing director.
Following the successful establishment in Germany, Testbirds opened up to new markets last summer by expanding to the UK and the Netherlands. At the same time, Testbirds franchised to a Hungarian IT company, thereby taking their first steps into internationalization. “Over the past two years, Testbirds has placed itself in an ideal position to become the leading crowdtesting provider in the growing European market”, reasons Dr. Wolfgang Krause, the managing partner of Seventure in Germany. “After initial discussions with the founders, we were immediately convinced of Testbirds’ potential. We see great things happening in the near future.”
The sum of € 2.1 million will allow Testbirds to:
Accelerate European expansion
Extend existing services (e.g. BirdFlight http://www.birdflightapp.com/) and add new services to the portfolio
Increase the existing team and set up national teams in key markets within Europe
In addition to Seventure, the German seed investor and e-Commerce entrepreneur Daniel Wild joins this financial round with his company Tiburon Unternehmensaufbau GmbH. This investment is the second round for Testbirds after the company received a seven-figure seed investment from Walter Beteiligungen und Immobilien AG in July 2012.
About Testbirds GmbH
Testbirds is a crowdtesting service provider headquartered in Munich, with offices in the UK, the Netherlands and Hungary. The company specializes in the testing of mobile apps, websites and other software for the entire device landscape (mobile, desktop, smart TV, wearables etc.) on all major operating systems.
Testbirds uses crowdtesting to facilitate software testing in today’s fast-growing world of technology. The crowd finds bugs and gives critical usability feedback, ensuring the highest-possible user experience before launch.
Extensive device ecosystems as well as increased user expectations challenge conventional testing methods. Testbirds offers in-depth and cost-effective quality assurance for web applications and mobiles apps through the crowd on any device, with any target group, at any time. Today, crowdtesting is fast becoming a necessary tool for developers to help improve functionality and overall usability of any application.
Testbirds was founded in 2011 and supported by different institutions and partners. In 2012, the company received a seven-figure seed funding by Walter Beteiligungen und Immobilien AG.
