VC-backed Nebula hires SVP of engineering

Nebula has hired Herb Schneider as senior vice president of engineering. Schneider was the co-founder of GridIron and Extreme Networks. Based in Mountain View, Calif., Nebula is a private cloud company. Its backers include Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Comcast Ventures and Highland Capital Partners.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Nebula, the enterprise private cloud company, today announced the appointment of Herb Schneider to the role of Senior Vice President of Engineering. Schneider brings more than 25 years of experience in systems hardware and software engineering with leadership in enterprise flash storage and enterprise networking. Schneider will drive research and development for the company and will report to Gordon Stitt, Nebula Chief Executive Officer.

Schneider has a successful track record of engineering products that generated over $2 billion in revenue and was responsible for the shipment of 20 million Ethernet ports. He engineered the development of next-generation technology including five generations of custom networking ASICs, two generations of network operating systems, and three generations of fixed and modular hardware platforms. Schneider also holds several patents in data networking and security.
