Walkers is delighted to announce that Jason Allison has joined the firm’s Cayman Islands office as a Partner in the Global Investment Funds Group.

“I am thrilled to be joining Walkers and its long established market leading practice as it continues its impressive growth in the industry. Its excellent brand and institutional client base fits perfectly with my expertise and experience in acting for such clients.”

Jason, one of the industry’s leading offshore investment funds practitioners, has close to ten years’ experience advising on Cayman Islands law. After spending over five years at Freshfields in London, Jason commenced his Cayman Islands career with Maples and Calder in 2004, becoming a partner there in 2007. In 2012, Mr. Allison left Maples and Calder to help establish the Cayman Islands office of another international offshore law firm.

Jason advises on Cayman Islands corporate and investment funds law, with particular expertise advising institutional clients on all aspects of structuring and establishment of private equity funds and hedge funds, and the related downstream M&A and corporate finance aspects. Jason’s clients include market leading institutional investment managers, investment banks, corporations, trustees, and investment funds.

“We are pleased to welcome someone of Jason’s calibre, expertise and reputation in the market” said Ingrid Pierce – Global Managing Partner with Walkers. “He joins us at a time when the continuing development and maturity of the global funds market is increasingly using Cayman structures not only for the fund vehicles themselves but also for the downstream asset and business owning entities of those funds, and clients are increasing their demand for the type of expertise that both Jason and Walkers has in this area.’’

Mr. Allison commented: “I am thrilled to be joining Walkers and its long established market leading practice as it continues its impressive growth in the industry. Its excellent brand and institutional client base fits perfectly with my expertise and experience in acting for such clients.”

Investment Funds Partner Tim Buckley added: “Jason’s deep knowledge and experience of the international private equity sector and the growing downstream M&A and corporate finance aspects of private equity funds, gives us another senior practitioner in this space to service our private equity clients.”

Jason joins Walkers’ Global Investment Funds group, which has one of the industry’s largest and most highly acclaimed and skilled offshore teams, with over thirty partners across eight international offices.

Walkers is internationally recognised as having a leading global offshore investment funds group. On 1 March 2013, the readership of Hedgeweek voted Walkers ‘Best Offshore Law Firm’ in its fourth Hedgeweek Global Awards. The honour was based on the results of the publication’s annual survey of nearly 60,000 subscribers, which sought to determine the ‘best in class’ in a range of categories.
