TRADESHIFT LAUNCHES INCUBATION FUNDING INITIATIVE FOR PLATFORM APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT
• First-of-its-Kind Co-innovation Initiative
• Expected to speed up time-to-benefit for enterprise procure to pay organizations
San Francisco, Calif., May 1, 2014: Tradeshift, the platform that empowers enterprises to work more easily and productively with their supply chain, anywhere in the world, today announced Tradeshift Studio. The initiative provides technology and design consulting and expertise for app development, as well as funding and resources for third-party developers. The initiative enables customers to create customized transaction and workflow applications in order to increase their speed of change and decrease their cost of change.
By functioning as an application design and development agency to Tradeshift customers, Tradeshift Studio simplifies the transition to working with the cloud-based platform because applications can be tailored to the needs of each customer and the companies with which they do business. In addition, this customization can be done without incurring the cost and time that often happens with adapting applications to existing platforms.
“The rise of platform-based enterprise applications that follow the lead of Apple [...] and Force.com ecosystem models has taken time [...], especially in the procurement and accounts payable areas. But the future of [...] customized cloud-based technologies [...] will [...] center on highly specific application [...] development that takes advantage of underlying platform and ecosystem elements,” commented Jason Busch, Executive Editor, Spend Matters. [..] The concept of Tradeshift Studio shows us a glimpse into the future when companies will select and [...] build technologies as much on underlying platform, ecosystem and application communities as the core functionality in business applications and networks themselves.”
Tradeshift Studio also offers a strategic app development program. Like an incubator, Tradeshift will provide guidance, resources and funding for developers or startups that want to build innovative solutions exclusively on the Tradeshift platform.
Said Christian Lanng, CEO of Tradeshift, “Having the ability to customize on the platform to suit the needs of a business is key to increasing productivity because it frees up companies from expensive, time-consuming implementations. Through Tradeshift Studio, we co-innovate with enterprises to deliver the custom solutions they need quickly. At the same time, we work with developers and startups to provide funding, access to professional resources and potential customers.”
