Prudential Financial has further expanded its private equity team run by Susan Garrett, bringing on Robyn Sacks Slutzky as a vice president focusing on fund and co-investments, according to two market sources, as well as Slutzky’s LinkedIn profile.
Slutzky joined Prudential in June, her profile said. Theresa Miller, a spokeswoman for Prudential Financial, confirmed the hiring late Wednesday.
Prior to Prudential, Slutzky worked as a principal at Quilvest for six years, and before that she was an associate at AlpInvest Partners for three years, her LinkedIn profile said. She also worked at the United Nations Capital Development Fund and Credit Suisse.
Prudential had confirmed in May the hiring of former Portfolio Advisors executive Jeffrey Gruccio as an investment vice president focusing on private equity.
Prudential Financial has been building up its private equity team in-house and brought on Jackie Jenkins in 2012 to run the Alternative Assets Group, which has about $7 billion in assets across private equity, hedge funds, real estate and other investments in real assets, according to a job description Prudential posted in March.
Garrett joined last year to focus specifically on the private equity portfolio, which had about $3.5 billion in assets, according to the job description.
The company had worked with Capital Dynamics as its external private equity advisor, but decided to bring the operation in-house. The private equity team has been looking to put out money into new relationships, according to one source familiar with the operation.
