Redpoint Ventures and Index Ventures have led a $25 million Series B funding round for Secret, a San Francisco-based anonymous messaging app. Danny Rimer, a partner at Index Ventures, confirmed the news in a blog post.

Other backers, according to Crunchbase, include SV Angel, Fuel Capital, Ceyuan Ventures, Garry Tan and Alexis Ohanian.

This latest capital infusion brings Secret’s total funding tally to $36.3 million. This past March, Secret raised $8.6 million in Series A funding. The backers for that round included Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Google Ventures, actor Ashton Kutcher and NFL hall of famer Joe Montana.

In his blog post, Rimer says one reason for Index Ventures’ support of Secret is their belief that that the app “has the potential to join the likes of Facebook, Twitter and Snapchat and become one of the most significant social utilities out there.”
