PRESS RELEASE

SAN MATEO, CA (August 26, 2014) — Datanyze, the sales prospecting solution powered by technology data, today announced that it has secured $2 million in seed funding to help technology vendors identify who’s trying their competitors’ software. The round was led by IDG Ventures, with participation from Google Ventures, Mark Cuban, AngelList, Gil Penchina, Neeraj Agrawal, Jeff Epstein and Kyle York.
Datanyze enables salespeople to uncover not only who is using a competitor’s software, but also determines when they started or stopped using it. If a competitor requires annual contracts, Datanyze can pinpoint the day a client deployed this competitive technology and send notifications a few months before the contract is up for renewal.

Here’s how Datanyze works: every day, the software crawls millions of websites, looking for various ‘signatures’ (bits of code, fragments of javascript, embeds, CSS, etc.) that indicate whether or not a particular technology is present on a given website. Once compiled, this information is served in a variety of creative ways that have turned traditional lead generation methods upside down.

Datanyze is growing at a rapid rate of 25% a month, and the solution has received positive reviews from early adopters including KISSmetrics, Fastly and Dyn.

Datanyze will use the funding to continue growing the team, while expanding the capabilities of the product to support the needs of a growing customer base.

“Like investments, sales is all about context and timing,” said Datanyze investor, Mark Cuban. “When I saw what Datanyze was doing with technology data, I knew I was in.”

“Our goal is to become the de facto lead generation solution for every technology provider,” said Datanyze Founder and CEO, Ilya Semin. “This means continuing to find innovative ways to serve our technology data and providing sales teams with accurate information on the companies and people behind each website.”

Similar to established lead generation vendors, Datanyze provides a wealth of information on companies and prospects, but with two areas of distinction. Because the software crawls the web daily, Datanyze is able to update its entire database each day, eliminating concerns of data depreciation while providing more accurate information on smaller companies and startups that often get overlooked by other vendors.
