Highland Capital Partners has led a $27.8 million Series B round for Jaunt, a developer of hardware and software solutions for cinematic virtual reality.

Google Ventures, Redpoint Ventures, British Sky Broadcasting, Peter Gotcher and Blake Krikorian also participated in the round.

In conjunction with the funding, Alex Taussig, a partner at Highland Capital, has been appointed to Jaunt’s board of directors.

With the current funding, the company has raised a total of $35 million. This past April, it picked up $6.8 million in Series A funding that included SV Angel and Redpoint Ventures. And, last December, Jaunt, which was founded in May 2013, was seeded for $350,000. The backers were David Wu and BSkyB.

According to the company, the latest capital infusion will be used to “meet the growing demand for cinematic VR from content creators in a wide variety of industries.”
