Golub Capital Supports ABRY Partners’ Acquisition of SourceMedical

The middle market financing firm Golub Capital has provided a $25 million second lien term loan to support the acquisition of SourceMedical Solutions by the private equity firm ABRY Partners. SourceMedical provides outpatient information and revenue cycle management services for ambulatory surgery centers, specialty hospitals, and rehabilitation clinics nationwide.

KRG Capital Partners Exits Avizent

Denver-based private equity firm KRG Capital Partners has completed its sale of Avizent to York Risk Services Organization Inc. The deal closed on December 15, and is KRG’s third exit from its third fund. York Risk Services Organization is a portfolio company of ABRY Partners. Terms of the all-cash deal were not released.

Welsh Carson To Buy Triple Point Tech from ABRY

Boston-based private equity firm ABRY Partners is expected to exit Triple Point Technology after five years, sources say.

Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe is buying Triple Point, persons say. The $500 million sale is expected to close this week, one source says.

Westport, Conn.-based Triple Point provides software to manage commodities and enterprise risk. The company employs more than 600 people in 12 offices and support centers around the world, according to the Triple Point web site

ABRY, Berkshire Partners Complete Telx Deal

Boston-based investment firms ABRY Partners and Berkshire Partners have acquired The Telx Group Inc. Telx, based in New York, is a provider of global interconnection and colocation services. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Evercore Partners served as financial advisor to Telx on the transaction and Paul Hastings LLP served as legal advisor.

Wisconsin to Commit $6B+ to PE Through 2016

Following the best performance in 25 years for Wisconsin’s main pension fund, the State of Wisconsin Investment Board outlined long range plans to commit more than $6 billion to private equity through 2016, including $1 billion in both 2011 and 2012, rising to $1.4 billion per year in 2015 and 2016, according to a report by StepStone Group, Wisconsin’s private equity advisor.

Overall, the IRR for Wisconsin’s private equity portfolio was 12.9 percent for the year through March, beating the portfolio’s 12.1 percent benchmark, according to StepStone. Private equity returns for Wisconsin represented a gain of $949 million for the year.

ABRY Wraps Masergy Deal

Masergy Communications, the provider of network services, completed its deal with ABRY Partners regarding the purchase of its existing equity. Specifics of the transaction were not publicized. Blake Battaglia, partner with ABRY, worked on the transaction for the private equity firm.

ABRY Partners Backs Airband With $20M–UPDATED

ABRY Partners is putting $20 million into fixed wireless voice and data service provider Airband Communications Inc. The funds are aimed at fueling acquisitions as well as other growth efforts. Boston-based ABRY Partners will take a seat on the Airband board. Airband is backed by investors including Sevin Rosen Funds, Crescendo Ventures, Key Venture Partners and Dolphin Equity Partners.

ABRY Inks Buy of Masergy

ABRY Partners has agreed to buy Masergy Communications. Financial terms were not announced. Masergy provides managed, secure virtualized network services. The deal is expected to close in 90 days.

Freeman Spogli Finally Closes Fund VI, $265M Short Of Target

Freeman Spogli & Co. has finally closed its sixth fund with $735 million in commitments, Partner Bill Wardlaw told sister magazine Buyouts.

The fund fell well short of its $1 billion target. But, said Wardlaw, “given the fundraising environment, we were pleased with what we got.”

There must be some relief and exhaustion on the part of Wardlaw and his colleagues too.

Datapipe Inks $176M in Equity, Debt

Datapipe, a provider of enterprise IT services, said Tuesday that it closed on $176 million in equity and debt financing. The equity investment comes from ABRY Partners. The debt financing comes from a syndicate of lenders led by TD Securities as agent, joined by Brown Brothers Harriman, CapitalSource, Caterpillar Financial, CIT Group, GE Capital, ING and Raymond James Financial. Datapipe will use the new money for expansion. Datapipe is based in New Jersey.

Apax’s TriZetto Group Buys Gateway EDI

Apax Partners’ portfolio company The TriZetto Group acquired ABRY Partners’ Gateway EDI, the firms revealed Wednesday. Harris Williams & Co. worked on the transaction, including Jeff Bistrong, Sam Hendler, Tyler Dewing and Nick Patel from Harris Williams & Co.’s tech, telecom and digital media team.
