Osman Khan has joined Alvarez & Marsal as an MD in the Transaction Advisory Group. He will be based in New York. Khan was previously with PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Transaction Services practice.

The Oregon Investment Council, one of the nation’s largest private equity investors, committed $400 million across five funds since its previous meeting, according to the meeting minutes and the council’s spokesman, James Sinks. The new commitments are the first under the council’s new chief investment officer, John Skjervem, who began the job in November.

Alvarez & Marsal said Monday that Russell Kellner has joined the firm’s private equity services group as an MD based in Boston. Most recently, Kellner was a principal at Bain & Company.

Aquilex Holdings said Friday that it has financially restructured its debt and is now majority owned by Centerbridge Partners. Also, Aquilex CEO and President Bill Varner is retiring while Donovan Boyd was named chairman of the board. Rothschild provided financial advice to Aquilex, while Alvarez & Marsal was restructuring advisor. Aquilex provides maintenance, repair and industrial cleaning solutions to the energy industry.

Alvarez & Marsal said Monday that it has named Paul Aversano, MD, the global head of its transaction advisory group. Along with Nick Alvarez and Jack McCarthy, Aversano helped launched the firm’s first transaction advisory group in 2006. Alvarez & Marsal, of New York is a restructuring firm.

The professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal, which advises PE firms, hedge funds, and corporates and already has roughly 40 offices around the globe, has just opened a new office in Hong Kong. Dean Tarpley, former senior VP of retail at Palladium Group, has joined Alvarez & Marsal to launch a retail industry practice.

Jeff Schlosser has joined Alvarez & Marsal as a New York-based managing director in the firm’s private equity services operations group. He previously was national partner-in-charge of KPMG’s business due diligence group.

Malcolm Wright has joined Alvarez & Marsal as a New York-based managing partner in the firm’s transaction advisory practice. He previously was global lead partner in KPMG’s private equity group.

Steven Gold has joined Alvarez & Marsal as a Chicago-based managing director. He previously was an operating partner at Stone Tower Capital and chief supply chain officer for PepsiCo.
