Betterment said it raised $10 million in a Series B financing led by Menlo Ventures and joined by existing investors Bessemer Venture Partners and Anthemis Group. Since its launch in 2010, Betterment, an online investment service, has increased customer assets under management 500% a year, according to a press release.

Anthemis Group, Firstmark Capital, Great Oaks Venture Capital and several undisclosed individuals have put $2 million into personal finance start-up Payoff.com. To date, Payoff.com has raised a total of $5.8 million. The company’s platform utilizes research from personal finance, games and behavioral science, and is designed to help people save money and pay off debt. Payoff.com was formed in 2009 and is based in Los Angeles.

FinanceAcar.co.uk, and online car marketplace, has closed an undisclosed amount of financing led by Anthemis Group. Angel investors Dominic Collins, who was previously group director of Autotrader.co.uk, and individual investor Christoph Janz also participated. Both have joined FinanceAcar as advisors. Sean Park, partner at Anthemis, has joined the board as an observer.
