Cambridge, Mass.-based Acceleron Pharma Inc. has raised $30 million in financing. The company said that strategic partner Celgene contributed to the round, along with “all other existing investors.” Acceleron has raised capital from Advanced Technology Ventures, Alkermes, Avalon Ventures, Bessemer Ventures, Celgene, Flagship Ventures, MPM BioEquities, OrbiMed Advisors, Polaris Ventures, QVT Financial, Sutter Hill Ventures and Venrock. The new funds will be used to expand the company’s clinical stage pipeline.

Aratana Therapeutics, a company developing medicines for companion animals, has closed on $15 million in Series B financing. The company, since its launch earlier this year, has raised a total of $31 million. Existing shareholders MPM Capital, Avalon Ventures and Cultivian Ventures contributed to the round, as did new investor the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. The company is based in Kansas City, Kansas.

Standing Cloud, a provider of cloud application management services, has raised $3 million from existing investors Foundry Group and Avalon Ventures. The company has raised a total of $8 million. The company will use the infusion for development, among other efforts. Founded in 2009, Standing Cloud is based in Boulder, Colo.

Panmira Pharmaceuticals has appointed Hari Kumar as chief executive officer. Panmira was spun out of Amira Pharmaceuticals prior to Amira’s acquisition by Bristol-Myers Squibb. Cambridge, Mass.-based Backupify has closed on $5 million in a Series B round led by Avalon Ventures. The company provides data protection and management services for cloud-based applications. Nanigans Inc., the maker of a real-time bidding platform for the Facebook ads marketplace, has closed on $3 million from Avalon Ventures and Boston-based angel investors.
