Micro Interventional Devices Secures Part of Series B Led by Originate Ventures

Micro Interventional Devices, an emerging cardiovascular medical device company, has secured $3.5 million of its expected $5 million Series B financing. The initial tranche was led by Originate Ventures with existing investor, Battelle Ventures also participating in the round. In conjunction with the financing Mike Gausling, managing partner of Originate Ventures, will join the MID board of directors.

Itron Acquires VC-backed SmartSynch

Itron, a provider of energy and water resource management solutions is to acquire Jackson, Mississippi-based SmartSynch in a $100 million transaction. Proterro Adds Directors

Harrison F. Dillon, Thomas Dries, and Christos Papadopoulos will join Proterro’s board of directors. The company develops Protose, a feedstock that enables the production of biofuels. Founded in 2008, the company is backed by Battelle Ventures and Braemar Energy Ventures.

BioNanomatrix Closes $23.3M Series B

BioNanomatrix Inc., a developer of nanoscale, single-molecule imaging and analysis platforms, has raised $23.3 million in Series B financing. Domain Associates led the round, with participation from new investor Gund Investment Corporation and existing shareholders Battelle Ventures, Innovation Valley Partners and KT Venture Group joining the round. Domain Associates has offices in Princeton, N.J., and San Diego.
