Blackrock and Passport Capital leads $100 mln for New Relic

Software analytics provider New Relic has raised $100 million in funding. Blackrock and Passport Capital led the round with participation from T. Rowe Price Associates and Wellington Management. According to the firm, the capital infusion will be used for product development and international expansion. Allen & Company advised New Relic on the transaction and helped arrange the financing.

API company Apigee raises $60 mln from Pine River, Wellington, others

Apigee, which makes software for companies to manage application programming interfaces (APIs), announced this morning that it has raised $60 million from new investors Pine River Capital Management and Wellington Management Co, as well as prior investors. The San Jose, Calif.-based company said it has raised $171 million to date. The valuation for the new round was undisclosed. Just four months ago Apigee raised $20.5 million at a post-money valuation of $414.03 million from Bay Partners, Norwest Venture Partners and Third Point, according to Thomson Reuters (publisher of peHUB). Apigee’s other investors include AccentureBlackRock-managed funds, Focus Ventures and SAP Ventures.

VC-backed Lending Club raises $115 mln, acquires Springstone for $140 mln

Online credit marketplace Lending Club said Thursday that it has bought Springstone Financial for a consideration of $140 million. To help finance this transaction, Lending Club raised $50 million in debt financing and also $65 million in an equity round from funds and accounts managed by T. Rowe Price Associates, Wellington Management Company, BlackRock and Sands Capital. Based in Westborough, Mass., Springstone Financial is a provider of affordable financing options for consumers seeking to fund private education and medical procedures. Lending Club’s backers include Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Google Capital, Foundation Capital, Thomvest Ventures, Union Square Ventures, Canaan Partners and Norwest Venture Partners.

VC-backed Dropbox names former Secy of State Rice to board of directors

According to an announcement on its site made by CEO and founder Drew Houston, Dropbox has added former Secretary of State Dr. Condoleezza Rice to its board of directors. Rice served in her post under former President George W. Bush. Also, the firm has named Sujay Jaswa as its chief financial officer and Dennis Woodside as its chief operating officer. Based in San Francisco, Dropbox allows computer users to share photos, documents and videos anywhere without emailing files. Its backers include Sequoia Capital, Accel Partners, Benchmark, Goldman Sachs, BlackRock and Morgan Stanley. American Express Company creates j-v with Certares investor group

American Express Company has signed an agreement to create a joint venture for its Global Business Travel division. Under the agreement, American Express will share ownership of the joint venture with an investor group led by Certares. The Certares-formed group includes Qatar Investment Authority through its wholly-owned subsidiary Qatar Holding LLC, funds managed by BlackRock, Certares itself and Macquarie Capital.

Global asset manager BlackRock has acquired 17,723 common shares in Newcrest Mining at a price of $25.27 per Common Share.
