Radius Closes $12.4 Mln Series B Round

Radius said Wednesday it completed a $12.4 million Series B funding round with participation from American Express. Certain existing investors, including Blue Run Ventures, also took part. San Francisco-based Radius provides sales and marketing data.

Waze Knows Ways to a $30M Round

Social traffic and navigation company Waze reeled in $30 million in funding from investors including Horizon Ventures Hong Kong, KPCB’s Digital Growth Fund and the VC’s iFund, as well. Backing will be used to boost the app’s growth in China. Joining Waze’s board are John Malloy, Managing Partner of Blue Run Ventures and Jason Wong of Horizon Ventures and Mary Meeker, partner at KPCB, joins the company as a strategic advisor and board observer alongside Josh Silverman, President of American Express US Consumer division and former CEO of Skype.

Varolii Raises $8M, Names New Directors

Varolii Corp., the interactive messaging company, has raised $8 million from investors including BlueRun Ventures, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Institutional Venture Partners and InterWest Partners. The company also announced that Seattle veteran software executives, Lee Roberts and William Bryant, are joining its board of directors.

Foodspotting Chomps Down $3 Mln Round

Foodspotting has raised $3 million in Series A funding.

Blue Run Ventures has led the round. Jay Jamison, a Blue Run venture partner, will join Foodspotting’s board. Several early stage VCs from Foodspotting seed round also invested, said Alexa Andrzejewski, Foodspotting’s CEO.

“We see great market potential in having the Foodspotting service provide guides, recommendations and information to people to help them figure out what they should eat,” Jamison said in a statement.

Waze Raises $25M For Crowdsourced GPS

Crowdsourcing start-up Waze, which provides a real-time GPS and traffic service, has raised $25 million in venture funding. Blue Run Ventures, Magma and Vertex led the round, which included participation from strategic investor Qualcomm Ventures. With the new financing, Waze, which is based in Silicon Valley and Tel Aviv, Israel, plans to expand its staff, development, and move into a new office space.
