BlueCross BlueShield Venture Partners, managed by Sandbox Industries, has joined venture investors Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Camden Partners in a $70 million investment in Essence Group Holdings Corp. In July, Essence Group, which provide collaboration, reimbursement, clinical informatics and information technology services for healthcare companies, announced a $61 million infusion from Camden Partners and Kleiner Perkins. Most of the new capital will be invested in EGHC’s subsidiary Lumeris Corp., which is focused on software and services for accountable health care delivery systems.

MinSec Holdings Inc., a Wallingford, Penn.-based operator of community correctional facilities, outpatient programs and behavioral health treatment facilities, has raised an undisclosed amount of private equity and subordinated debt funding from Camden Partners and NewSpring Capital. The deal is structured as a recapitalization.
