The RealReal, a San Francisco-based luxury resale site, has raised a $14 million Series B round led by InterWest Partners. The round also included existing investors Canaan Partners, e.ventures, Greycroft Partners, Novel TMT Ventures, Panarea Capital and individual investors Suzy Welch and Sukhinder Singh Cassidy.

Novira Therapeutics has completed a Series A financing after securing $7.5 million from new investor Versant Ventures. This brings the total raised from all investors in the round to $25 million. Versant joins 5AM Ventures and Canaan Partners, which led the first closing of the Series A in August 2012.

Norwest Venture Partners is apparently preparing to open a New York office, eager to expand its presence in the Big Apple’s Internet startup scene, sources say.

VC marketing is nothing new. But lately, many firms have recruited people with agency or startup experience, which some observers say is an important way for firms to recruit young entrepreneurs and branch out into social media marketing.

ShopKeep POS has closed a Series B funding round of $10 million led by Canaan Partners. Tribeca Venture Partners and TTV Capital, who co-led the company’s $2.2 million Series A funding earlier this year, also participated in the round.

Entrepreneur and investor Ross Fubini, who’s been a partner with seed-stage investor Kapor Capital for the past year, has joined Canaan Partners as a venture partner. Fubini, who’s listed as an advisor to Palantir Technologies, led investments in Piazza, CitrusLane, GingerIO, KarmaLoop, ElationEMR, Omada Health and HealthLoop and others while at Kapor Capital.

AdverCar said it raised $2 million in a seed round led by Canaan Partners and joined by 1-800-Flowers, Branford Castle Private Equity, New Orleans Startup Fund, TiE Angels Boston and Jit Saxena. AdverCar is developing an auto advertising service.

UrbanSitter, an online service for parents and sitters to connect through people they know, has closed a $6 million Series A round of funding. The round was led by Canaan Partners with participation from existing investors First Round Capital, Menlo Ventures, Rustic Canyon Partners and several angels.

Borro, which operates a secured asset lending site, has raised $26 million in a funding round led by Canaan Partners and including Ribbit Capital. The company, which was launched in London four years ago and has operated out of New York since January, previously raised about $20 million from European investors. As part of the funding, Canaan General Partner Dan Ciporin has joined the board.

Xirrus, a Wi-Fi device maker based in Thousand Oaks, Calif, has closed a $23.5 million Series E financing round. The funding was led by existing investors August Capital, Canaan Partners, InterWest Partners, QuestMark Partners, and US Venture Partners.
