Toronto-based ViXS Systems Inc., a semiconductor company which designs and develops high-performance media solutions, has entered into a going-public transaction whereby a subsidiary of ViXS will amalgamate with capital pool company W7 Acquisition Corp. Upon completion of the transaction, W7 shareholders will ultimately receive common shares of the publicly-traded ViXS. ViXS was founded in 2001 with the backing of Celtic House Venture Partners. Its other investors include Export Development Canada, New Enterprise Associates and Novacap.

Diablo Technologies Inc., an Ottawa, Ontario-based maker of memory system interface products, has raised C$7.5 million in additional financing, expanding its latest venture capital round to C$36 million. The new funds include a first-time investment from U.S. Venture Partners (USVP), with USVP partner Chris Rust joining Diablo’s board of directors. Additional funds came from the company’s existing investors, which include Battery Ventures, BDC Venture Capital, Celtic House Venture Partners and Hasso Plattner Ventures.

Markham, Ontario-based Camilion Solutions Inc., which focuses on product development, product life-cycle and underwriting solutions for the insurance industry, has been bought by SAP AG, a German provider or enterprise application software. The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Camilion was founded in 2001 with a startup financing led by Canadian venture capital firm Celtic House Venture Partners. Other backers of the company have included GrowthWorks and MMV Capital Partners.

Spectra7 Microsystems Inc., a Toronto-based analog semiconductor company delivering speed, resolution and signal fidelity to consumer and wireless infrastructure products, has established a listing on the Toronto Stock Exchange and will begin trading under the symbol SEV. Spectra7 was founded last year as a result of a merger backed by Canadian venture capital firms. Celtic House Venture Partners led the company’s startup financing round of C$11 million in August, 2012 with the participation of Edgestone Capital Venture Fund III and Ventures West Capital.

After a five-year-long OEM partnership, Hitachi Ltd has acquired California-based network storage company BlueArc Corp., Reuters reported. BlueArc had raised upwards of $215 million in venture capital and filed with U.S. regulators in June for an initial public offering. The company was backed by a slew of investors including Meritech Capital Partners, Crosslink Capital, Morgenthaler Ventures, Apax Partners, Weston Presidio, RWI Ventures, Dell Ventures, CTTV Investments, Celtic House Venture Partners, The Parkmead Group and Fort Washington Capital Partners. The specifics of Hitachi’s acquisition were not released, though some reports placed the price tag between $500 million and $600 million, Reuters said.
