Ad tech startup Tell Apart buys VC-backed Freshplum

Ad tech firm Tell Apart has acquired Freshplum, the former confirmed in a blog post on its site. No financial terms were disclosed. Based in San Francisco, Freshplum lets ecommerce sites offer personalized discounts. Its backers included New Enterprise Associates, Greylock Partners, Google Ventures and Charles River Ventures. Charles River Ventures leads $2 mln round for bop.fm

Digital music startup bop.fm has closed $2 million in funding. Charles River Ventures led the round with participation from other investors that included SV Angel, Y Combinator, FundersClub, Lew Moorman, president of Rackspace and Tom Ryan, former head of digital at EMI.

Sequoia Capital leads $17.3 mln round for DoorDash

According to a blog post on its site, DoorDash has received $17.3 million in Series A funding. Sequoia Capital led the round with participation from Khosla Ventures, Charles River Ventures, Pejman Mar Ventures and Ted Zagat. Also, the firm has added Alfred Lin to its board. CloudGenix nets $9 mln

CloudGenix, a networking firm based in Santa Clara, Calif., said Wednesday that it has raised $9 million in Series A funding. The investors were Charles River Ventures and Mayfield Fund.

Zendesk appoints to board

Zendesk, a provider of cloud software has made three appointments to its board of directors: Caryn Marooney, vice president of technology communications at Facebook; Elizabeth Nelson, former chief financial officer of Macromedia and former Amazon.com general counsel Michelle Wilson. Founded in 2007 and based in San Francisco, Zendesk has offices in seven countries and funding from Charles River Ventures, Benchmark, GGV Capital, Index Ventures, Matrix Partners and Redpoint Ventures.

usermind raises oversubscribed Series A

Enterprise startup usermind has raised $7.6 million in an oversubscribed Series A round of financing led by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from Charles River Ventures and SV Angel. Co-founded in May 2013 by enterprise technology veterans Michel Feaster (CEO) and Przemek Pardyak (CTO), usermind will use the funding to advance product development and expand the company’s Seattle-based headquarters.

EMC’s Aveksa Buy a Score for CRV

Charles River Ventures and other backers scored a positive return with Aveksa, an identity management software provider acquired by EMC today in a deal reportedly valued at north of $200 million.

Nantero Closes Series D

Nantero has closed a Series D round of financing for over $10 million. The oversubscribed round was led by two new strategic corporate investors and also includes existing investors, including Charles River Ventures, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Globespan Capital Partners, Stata Venture Partners and Harris & Harris Group.
