NextNav snags $70 mln Series D

NextNav has secured $70 million in Series D financing. New Enterprise Associates and Oak Investment Partners led the round with participation from Columbia Capital, Telcom Ventures and Goldman Sachs Investment Partners. In conjunction with the funding, Peter Barris, managing general partner at NEA, and Bandel Carano, managing partner at Oak, have been named to NextNav’s board of directors. Based in Sunnyvale, Calif. and McLean, VA, NextNav is a provider of location solutions for indoor and urban environments.


Zayo Group files for IPO – Reuters

Fiber network company Zayo Group Holdings filed with U.S. regulators to raise up to $100 million in an initial public offering, writes Reuters. Zayo is backed by GTCR, Oak Investment Partners, M/C Partners, Columbia Capital and Charlesbank Capital Partners.


GTS sold to Deutsche Telekom

GTS has been sold to Deutsche Telekom for 546 million euros. GTS is an infrastructure-based telecommunications service provider in South East and Eastern Europe. It is currently owned by a consortium of international private equity firms including Bessemer Venture Partners, Columbia Capital, HarbourVest Partners, Innova Capital, MC Partners and Oak Investment Partners.

ORIX Ventures and Columbia Capital backs SummitIG

SummitIG has received an undisclosed amount of financing from ORIX Ventures and Columbia Capital. According to the company, the capital will be used for expansion. Headquartered in Dulles, Virginia, SummitIG is a custom network solutions and bandwidth infrastructure provider.

Endgame Closes Series B Led by Paladin Capital

Endgame, a provider of battle-tested cyber security solutions, has closed a $23 million Series B equity financing. Led by new investor Paladin Capital Group, the Series B includes participation from existing investors Bessemer Venture Partners, Columbia Capital, Kleiner Perkins Caulfield & Byers and TechOperators.

Columbia Capital Leads IntelliBatt Investment Round

Millennial Media Files for I.P.O

Mobile advertising network Millennial Media Inc. has filed with regulators to raise up to $75 million in an initial public offering. Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs and Barclays Capital are among the underwriters listed for the offering. The Baltimore-based company raised more than $65 million from venture investors, and wrapped up a $27.5 million round a year ago. Backers include from Bessemer Venture Partners, Columbia Capital, Charles River Ventures and New Enterprise Associates.

Digital Signal Inks $10.3M in Fresh Capital – Filing

Digital Signal Corp., a developer of three-dimensional, long-range facial recognition software, has raised $10.3 million in fresh capital, according to a regulatory filing. In April, the company announced a $15 million funding round from investors including Columbia Capital, City Light Capital, SilverHaze Partners, Novak Biddle Venture Partners and Paladin Capital Group. Digital Signal is based in Chantilly, Va.

Vistaprint Buys VC-backed Webs for $117.5M

Vistaprint, the listed maker of professional marketing products and services, said it will acquire venture-backed Webs for $117.5 million. Webs is based in Silver Spring, Maryland, and has raised venture capital from Novak Biddle Venture Partners and Columbia Capital.

Frank Vella Joins Virtustream

Cloud services and infrastructure technology company Virtustream has named Frank Vella as its chief operating officer. Vela joins from Quest Software, where he served as global vice president of Sales, Identity and Windows Management. Virtustream is backed by investors including Intel Capital, Columbia Capital, Noro-Moseley Partners and TDFunds. Virtustream is based in San Francisco.

Best Buy Snaps Up mindSHIFT

Best Buy is paying $167 million to buy mindSHIFT Technologies Inc., a venture funded managed service provider for small and mid-sized businesses. Backed by investors including Columbia Capital, Volition Capital and TD Fund, mindSHIFT provides cloud services, data center services and professional services to more than 5,400 clients. The deal is expected to close around the end of this year.
