FanDuel Closes Series C

Daily fantasy sports game operator FanDuel has closed $11 million in Series C financing from new investor Comcast Ventures, existing investors Piton Capital, Pentech Ventures, Bullpen Capital and serial investor Richard Koch. Andrew Cleland, a partner at Comcast Ventures has joined FanDuel’s board.

CarWoo! Attracts Further Funding

Online automobile marketplace CarWoo! has closed a $6M funding round, bringing total funding to over $12M. With the funding, CarWoo! is adding industry veterans Rudi Thun, formerly general manager of AOL Autos, and Phil Yeh, previously from Dealix. Plum District Does Deals on Heels of Big Round

Coming on the heels of its $20 million funding, Plum District, the local commerce platform for moms, acquired Chatterfly and DoodleDeals. Chatterfly is a digital loyalty and neighborhood rewards firm and DodoleDeals is a deal site for parents on kids’ products and services. Earlier today, it was announced General Catalyst, Comcast Ventures and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers were among investors that joined to provide Plum District with $20 million.

Plum District Inks $20M

General Catalyst Partners led a $20 million round for Plum Disctrict, a San Francisco-based local commerce platform for moms. New investors Comcast Ventures and Duke University contributed to the round, along with existing investor Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. As a result of the funding, Raul Vazquez, the former president and chief executive of Walmart.com was named to the board of directors.

Catalog Spree Seals $6.1M for Shopping App

Catalog Spree, maker of a catalog shopping app for the iPad, has sealed $6.1 million in Series A funding. Comcast Ventures led the round, with participation from BlackBerry Partners Fund and El Dorado Ventures.

Kiwi Crate, a months-old, Mountain View, Calif.-based company that operates a subscription-based, kid-focused activities service (including home-delivered parent-kid “projects”), has raised $2 million in seed funding.  First Round Capital led the round.
