ConJoin Group Pays $250M for Healthcare-focused PHNS

Backed by the private equity firm Actis, business process outsourcing company The ConJoin Group has acquired PHNS for $250 million. Dallas-based PHNS provides information technology and business process outsourcing services for the healthcare industry. The ConJoin group is based in Boston.

At this morning’s Churchill Club breakfast in Silicon Valley, two private equity pros, a venture capitalist and an angel investor were asked to peer into the future.

In addition to the usual observations — the VC industry will shrink by half next year, capital is still tight, exits are still tough, portfolios are full of troubled companies — they had some fresh takes.

Panel members were Rich Garnick of the ConJoin Group, Rich Lawson of Huntsman Gay Global Capital, Rajiv Batra from Mayfield and Rich Brenner from the Brenner Group (he’s the angel).

Another turnaround player that has come on the scene is the ConJoin Group. The firm, which has been under-the-radar for more than a year, officially launched and hung up its shingle this week as a turnaround advisory for investment firms with struggling portfolio companies.

ConJoin Group LLC has launched as a turnaround advisory for investment firms with struggling portfolio companies. It is being sponsored by $9.5 million from Jefferson Partners, whose co-founder David Folk is one of ConJoin’s two principals. The other is Richard Garnick, current chairman and CEO of Avotus Corp.
