VC-backed Voxer appoints new president

Voxer said Thursday that it has named Irv Remedios as its new president. Remedios is Voxer’s former head of product. Based in San Francisco, Voxer is a provider of push-to-talk and multimedia messaging. Its backers include Institutional Venture Partners, Intel Capital, SV Angel and CrunchFund.

Online identity platform About.me pulls in $11 mln Series B

Online identity platform About.me said Tuesday that it has closed $11 million in Series B funding. Foundry Group led the round with participation from True Ventures, SoftTech VC, CrunchFund and Bullpen Capital. According to the firm, the capital infusion will be used for expansion and product building. In addition to the funding, Brad Feld, managing director at Foundry Group, has been added to About.me’s board of directors.

K9 Ventures leads seed round for 3Gear Systems

According to a blog post on its site, 3Gear Systems has closed $1.9 million in seed funding. K9 Ventures led the round with participation from other investors that included Intel Capital, CrunchFund and Ovo Fund. CrunchFund backs Bluefly

CrunchFund has backed Bluefly and joined Clearlake Capital Group in its investment in the company. Terms of CrunchFund’s investment were not disclosed.

Heyday app launches, reveals $2 mln in seed funding

Heyday, which makes a photo journal app for the iOS platform, officially launched today. The San Francisco-based company, which was founded last year, told peHUB that it raised $2 million in seed funding, all of which was raised in July 2012. Investors include Google Ventures, Spark Capital, TriplePoint Capital, CrunchFund, SV Angel and individual investors Shervin Pishevar, Keith Rabois, Garry Tan, Matt Ocko, Robin Chan, Kevin Chou, David Spector, Amitt Mahajan, Joel Poloney, Ben Narasin, Eric Ries, Saad Khan, Charles Moldow and Roy Sehgal.

FoundationDB raises Series A

FoundationDB has closed $17 million in a Series A funding round led by Sutter Hill Ventures with additional investment from CrunchFund and existing angel investors. Sutter Hill managing director, Sam Pullara will join FoundationDB’s board of directors.

Floral marketplace provider BloomNation raises $1.65 mln

Los Angeles-based BloomNation raised $1.65 million in funding from Andreessen Horowitz, Spark Capital, Chicago Ventures, CrunchFund and MuckerLab. BloomNation, which operates an online marketplace for florists nationwide, is a graduate of MuckerLab, a Los Angeles-based accelerator.

creativeLIVE Secures Funds

creativeLIVE has secured funding from Creative Artists Agency, William Morris Endeavor, CrunchFund and Google Ventures among others. The new investors join Greylock Partners to bring creativeLIVE’s total funding to $8 million.

Handshakez Closes Series A Round

Handshakez has closed $3.6 million in venture capital financing. The Series A round was led by Austin Ventures with additional investment by First Round Capital, FLOODGATE, CrunchFund, Valhalla Partners and Thinktiv.

Zumper Raises $1M From Kleiner, Andreessen, Greylock, NEA, Others

Zumper said it raised $1 million in seed funding earlier this year from investors including Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Andreessen Horowitz, Greylock Partners, CrunchFund, New Enterprise Associates, Dawn Capital, the Experiment Fund and the DeWilde family trust. Zumper is using the money for expansion.

YourMechanic Raises $1.8M From Y Combinator, Milner, Kutcher, SV Angel, Others

YourMechanic said it raised $1.8 million in seed funding from investors including Y Combinator, Yuri Milner, Ashton Kutcher, SV Angel, CrunchFund and SoftTechVC. The Mountain View, Calif., company is developing a mobile car repair service. Cloud Storage Startup Bitcasa Secures $7M

Bitcasa, a Mountain View, Calif.-based cloud storage company, has raised $7 million in its Series A funding round, bringing its total funding to $9 million. Pelion Venture Partners, an existing investor, and Horizons Ventures, a new investor, co-led the round, with Andreessen Horowitz, First Round Capital, CrunchFund and Samsung Ventures also participating.
