Cycle Capital leads Series A round for Agrisoma

Agrisoma Biosciences has secured Series A financing that is expected to total $8 million through 2014. Cycle Capital Management led the round with participation from BDC Venture Capital. In addition to the funding, Agrisoma has appointed Rick Smith, former president and CEO at Dow AgroSciences Canada, to its board as well as John Plaza, president/CEO and founder of Imperium Renewables. Base in Quebec, Agrisoma is an agriculture tech firm.

Canadian Cleantech VC Raises $80 Million

Cycle Capital Management of Canada has held an $80 million first close on its inaugural fund, which will focus on VC opportunities in the cleantech and renewable energy sectors. Limited partners include Investissement Québec, the Fonds de solidarité FTQ, Fondaction, the Caisse de dépôt et de placement du Québec, Brookfield Renewable Power Inc., Cascades Inc., the Fonds d’action québécois pour le développement durable (FAQDD) and the Centrale des syndicats du Québec (CSQ).
