Earlybird backs Flipps, Tjobs and Metrekare.com

Earlybird Venture Capital has made undisclosed investments in three early-stage firms Flipps, Tjobs and Metrekare.com. Now based in San Francisco, Flipps is a direct-to-TV streaming platform. Romanian startup Tjobs helps employers in the European Union recruit temporary or permanent workers for jobs while Metrekare.com is a real estate listings platform in Turkey. The investments come only three months after Earlybird raised $110 million in the initial close of its Digital East Fund, which has a hard cap of $130 million.

Earlybird Venture Capital backs Flipps

Flipps has received $2.4 million in funding. The investors included Earlybird Venture Capital and Tim Draper. According to the firm, the capital will be used for growth and expansion. Based in San Francisco, New York and Sofia, Bulgaria, Flipps streams entertainment content from a mobile device to a TV.

Silicon Valley-based Guericke named partner of Earlybird

Berlin-based venture firm Earlybird Venture Capital announced today it has named Konstantin Guericke a partner. He becomes the fifth partner at the firm, which in mid-2013, raised $200 million for its fourth early-stage fund. Guericke has been in Silicon Valley for some 20 years and is co-founder and former VP of marketing of LinkedIn. He joined Earlybird nearly two years ago as a venture partner.

German Venture Firm Earlybird Raises $200M Fund

Earlybird Venture Capital closed its fourth early-stage fund with $200 million in commitments. The Berlin-based firm — which has invested in Auctionata, Carpooling.com, Versus.IO and EyeEm, among others — says the fund was oversubscribed.

VERSUS IO completes Series A

VERSUS IO has completed its Series A funding round led by Earlybird Venture Capital. The round also includes additional investments from 500 Startups led by Dave McClure who initially invested $100,000 in December 2012, seed investor High-Tech Gründerfonds and angel investors Lars Dittrich and Dario Suter. To date VERSUS IO has raised $1 million in total.

Earlybird Exits BMEYE Via Sale to Edwards Lifesciences

Earlybird Venture Capital portfolio Company BMEYE has been acquired by Edwards Lifesciences Corporation, a heart valves and hemodynamic monitoring business. BMEYE is a Dutch company that specializes in the development of non-invasive technology for advanced hemodynamic monitoring.

Traxpay Secures Funds and Appoints CEO

Socialbakers Seals $2M from EarlyBird

Socialbakers, a social and digital media analytics company, has raised $2 million in a financing round led by Earlybird Venture Capital. The company, which says it is already profitable, will use the cash to expand its platform. Jason Whitmire, General Partner at Earlybird, will join investor Martin Huml of Runway Capital on the company’s board. Socialbakers launched in 2009.

Peak Games Adds $11.5M

Peak Games, a social gaming company focused on emerging markets, has raised $11.5 million in new funding from investors including Earlybird Venture Capital and Hummingbird Ventures. The money will be used for market expansion, additional game studio acquisitions, hiring and user acquisition, Peak Games announced Tuesday. Peak Games has offices and game studios in Istanbul, Ankara, Amman, Barcelona, Berlin and San Francisco.
