M-Files Inc. said it raised $7.7 million of Series A funding in a round led by DFJ Esprit and joined by the Finnish Industry Investment. The company said DFJ Esprit’s Mikko Suonenlahti joined the board along with Jim Geary and Bob Suh.

Community-powered safe surfing tool Web of Trust has raised 1 million euros ($1.3 million) led by Inventure, a cross-border venture capital group based in Finland and China. Other investors include private investor Risto Siilasmaa and Finnish Industry Investment, which has been a shareholder of WOT since 2007.

Silecs International, a developer of advanced Siloxane polymers, has closed on $16 million in Series E financing. Singapore-based fund EDBI led the round, with participation from European investors Tempo Capital Partners, Innovations Kapital and Finnish Industry Investment. The round will help Silecs expand its research, production, and customer support capabilities.

Finnish Industry Investment has promoted Anne Riekki to investment director. She joined the group in early 2007.

Juha Lehtola has joined Finnish Industry Investment Ltd. as an investment manager. He previously was with Nordic Venture Partners.
