Hara Adds $25M Series C

San Mateo, Calif.-based Hara raised $25 million in Series C financing, bringing its total raised to $45 million. Investors include Energy Technology Ventures, ITOCHU Technology Ventures, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, JAFCO Ventures, Nth Power, Focus Ventures and Navitas Capital. The money will help Hara expand its produce development. The company develops environmental and energy management software.

Marin Software Inks $16M Series E

Online advertising company Marin Software has sealed $16 million in new financing, and added former Shutterfly executive John Kaelle as chief financial officer. Crosslink Capital led the Series E financing, which also included participation from existing investors Benchmark Capital, DAG Ventures, Focus Ventures and Triangle Peak Partners. Eric Chin, a partner at Crosslink Capital, will join the company’s board as a result of the funding.

BookRenter Inks $40M Series C

Online textbook platform BookRenter has raised $40 million in Series C financing from Adams Capital Management, Comerica Bank, Focus Ventures, Lighthouse Capital Partners, Norwest Venture Partners, and Storm Ventures. The company launched in 2008 and allows college stores to launch their own textbook rental sites. BookRenter, based in San Mateo, Calif., closed a $10 million Series B round in June 2010.

Stoke Closes $17 Million Series E Funding Round

Stokes Inc. received $17 million through a Series E funding round. The Santa Clara, Calif.-based mobile broadband gateway provider has secured a total of about $92 million in funding to date. Focus Ventures of Palo Alto, Calif., led round E. Existing investors (DAG Ventures, Integral Capital Partners, Pilot House Ventures, Net One Systems Co., DoCoMo Capital Ltd., Mobile Internet Capital Inc., Sequoia Capital, and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers) participated in the round. The latest capital obtained will be used to support an increased installed base and new network optimization projects.

Turn Nets $20M in New Funding

Turn Inc. has raised $20 million in Series D financing to help expand its digital advertising management platform. Maryland-based venture firm Greenspring Associates led the round. Existing shareholders Norwest Venture Partners, Trident Capital, Shasta Ventures and Focus Ventures all invested pro rata in the round.
