IPad App Developer Haiku Deck Snags $3M

Haiku Deck, which makes an iPad app to make it simple to create and share presentations,announced it has raised $3 million in a Series A round. Trilogy Partnership led the round, which included participation from Madrona Venture Group, Founders Co-op and individual investors, including Sarah Leary (co-founder of Nextdoor). Haiku Deck had previously raised less than $1 million in seed funding.

GroupTalent Inc., a talent-as-a-service platform that focuses on hard-to-fill software design and development roles, has secured US$1 million in a seed-stage financing round from a mix of Canadian and US investors. The Seattle, Washington-based GroupTalent, founded in 2011, was backed in a deal led by Vancouver, British Columbia’s Version One Ventures, an early-stage venture capital firm launched last year, alongside Founders’ Co-op., Menlo Ventures and a number of angel investors.

Ignition Leads $8M Round for AppFog

AppFog, provider of a cloud-based PHP PaaS hosting service, has added $8 million in new funding. Ignition Partners led the Series B round, with participation from return backers Madrona Venture Group, First Round Capital and Founders Co-Op. The company has raised a total of $9.8 million, and will use the new money to expand its development team. AppFog is based in Portland. As a result of the round, Frank Artale, managing director at Ignition, will join the board.
