Venture Investing At Slowest Pace In Two Years

Venture capitalists began 2013 by pouring money into startups at the slowest pace in two years, suggesting a reset for an industry where dollars coming into new funds has trailed portfolio company investments for six years.

Genband, a Plano, Texas-based provider of IP infrastructure solutions, has acquired most of the assets of Nortel Networks’ carrier VoIP and applications solutions businesses, for approximately $282 million. Genband was being backed on the deal by existing shareholder One Equity Partners.

Genband, a Plano, Texas-based provider of IP infrastructure solutions, has agreed to buy most of the assets of Nortel Networks’ carrier VoIP and applications solutions businesses, for approximately $282 million. Genband is being backed on the deal by existing shareholder One Equity Partners. Genband had originally been named stalking horse bidder for the assets, and no other suitor emerged.
