DC Devices Raises $9M from Canadian & U.S. VC Funds

DC Devices Inc. has raised US$9 Million from a consortium of investors. Lumira Capital joined the financing along with existing investors Third Rock Ventures and General Catalyst. Gerry Brunk, managing director of Lumira, joined the company’s board of directors. Tewksbury, Mass.-based DC Devices, a medical device company for the treatment of congestive heart failure, has been venture-backed since 2009.

Coming on the heels of its $20 million funding, Plum District, the local commerce platform for moms, acquired Chatterfly and DoodleDeals. Chatterfly is a digital loyalty and neighborhood rewards firm and DodoleDeals is a deal site for parents on kids’ products and services. Earlier today, it was announced General Catalyst, Comcast Ventures and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers were among investors that joined to provide Plum District with $20 million.

Andreessen Horowitz, along with SV Angel, Y Combinator, Yuri Milner, General Catalyst, Ignition Partners, Raymond Tonsing and Alexis Ohanian – have put a combined $1 million into video gaming startup MinoMonsters Inc. The company is run by 19-year-old Joshua Buckley. The company, which recently opened offices in San Francisco, is the maker of MinoMonsters, a monster battle and trading game for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
