Goldman Sachs announces new appointments

Goldman Sachs has named Adebayo O. Ogunlesi as lead director and chair of the board’s corporate governance, nominating and public responsibilities committee. Also, the firm has named M. Michele Burns as chair of the risk committee and Peter Oppenheimer as chair of the audit committee. Ogunlesi is the managing partner and chairman of Global Infrastructure Partners. Burns was CEO of the Retirement Policy Center while Oppenheimer is a retiring senior vice president at Apple.

NRG Yield buys Alta Wind from PE-backed Terra-Gen

Terra-Gen, which is backed by ArcLight Capital Partners and Global Infrastructure Partners, has agreed to sell its Alta Wind to NRG Yield. No financial terms were disclosed for the transaction, which is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2014. Citigroup and Morgan Stanley were the advisors on the sale.

GIP to Buy 35% of Terminal Investment Ltd. from MSC

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Co. said Monday that it has agreed to sell 35% of Terminal Investment Limited SA to Global Infrastructure Partners and a group of its LP co-investors. The sale price is US$1.929 billion, including certain payments contingent on TIL’s future performance. The deal is expected to close in the middle of the year. Terminal Investment Limited invests in, develops and manages container terminals around the world.

Ogunlesi Joins Goldman Sachs Board

Adebayo Ogunlesi was named an independent director of Goldman Sachs Group Inc. effective Oct. 15. Goldman said it expects to appoint another independent director in the near terms. Ogunlesi is Managing Partner and Chairman of Global Infrastructure Partners.

Google, Citi Back Alta Wind Energy with $204M

Google and Citi will finance a second phase of the Alta Wind Energy Center being developed by Terra-Gen Power, each investing $102 million in the project, the companies announced Wednesday. Terra-Gen Power is an affiliate of ArcLight Capital Partners and Global Infrastructure Partners. GIP Buys Stake in Terra-Gen Power from Arclight

Global Infrastructure Partners has acquired up to a 40% convertible preferred interest in Terra-Gen Power Holdings LLC, an owner and/or operator of over 800 megawatts of renewable power facilities in the U.S. The seller is Arclight Capital Partners, which will retain an interest in Terra-Gen.
