VC-backed StrongView adds two to team

StrongView said Monday it has hired Steve Melamed as chief sales officer and Mark Parks as vice president of product. Headquartered in Redwood City, Calif., StrongView is an e-mail and cross-channel marketing solutions provider. Its backers include Sequoia Capital, Evercore Partners, DAG Ventures and Globespan Capital Partners.

Funds from Landmark Equity Partners and Insight Venture Partners continue to shine brightest in the Indiana Public Retirement System’s early decade venture portfolio, according to an analysis by affiliate magazine Venture Capital Journal.

Career-building company Gild raises Series B

San Francisco-based Gild, which uses predictive technology to provide career counseling services, has raised $13.5 million in Series B funding. The round was led by new investor Menlo Ventures and included Draper Nexus and existing investors Baseline Ventures, Globespan Capital Partners, SAP Ventures, Correlation Ventures and Mark Kvamme of Drive Capital. The company has now raised $27 million since it was launched in 2012.

Perfecto Mobile snags $20 mln

Perfecto Mobile said Wednesday that it has received $20 million in funding. The investors were FTV Capital, Carmel, Vertex and Globespan Capital Partners. Headquartered in Woburn, Mass., Perfecto Mobile is a provider of automated testing solutions for mobile devices.

Comcast Ventures leads SundaySky’s Series C

SundaySky, which provides video advertising services, has raised $20 million in a Series C investment round that was led by Comcast Ventures. Others in the round include Liberty Global Ventures, Vintage Investment Partners and existing investors Carmel Ventures, Globespan Capital Partners and Norwest Venture Partners. The company previously raised $17 million in funding, including a $9 million Series B round in 2010. As part of the recent round, Andrew Cleland, managing director of Comcast Ventures, has joined the board.

Gild Appoints to Advisory Board

Gild has appointed Steve Cadigan to its advisory board. Cadigan is former VP of Talent at LinkedIn and current advisor at Cadigan Ventures to the Gild Advisory Board. Launched in 2011, Gild is backed by Globespan Capital Partners and Baseline Ventures, and is headquartered in San Francisco, CA.

Gild Closes $8m Series A

Tech hiring business Gild has closed a Series A financing totaling $8 million. The funding was led by Steve Anderson of Baseline Ventures, with participation from SAP Ventures, Globespan Capital Partners, and Silicon Valley investor Mark Kvamme, an original investor in LinkedIn.

Nantero Closes Series D

Nantero has closed a Series D round of financing for over $10 million. The oversubscribed round was led by two new strategic corporate investors and also includes existing investors, including Charles River Ventures, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Globespan Capital Partners, Stata Venture Partners and Harris & Harris Group.

Pelican Imaging Hires President, CEO and VP Engineering

Pelican Imaging Corporation, a venture-backed computational imaging business, has appointed a new top executive and new vice president of engineering. Christopher Pickett will serve as Pelican Imaging’s president and CEO, while Purnam Sheth will take on the role of vice president of engineering.

Amalfi Semiconductor Bags $20M Round

Existing investors Battery Ventures, DCM and Globespan Capital Partners invested $20 million in Amalfi Semiconductor, a maker of power amplification solutions for cellular handsets. Odesk, a Redwood City, Calif., platform for finding and hiring remote freelance workers, has received $15 million in Series D funding led by T. Rowe Price Associates.
