LightSpeed racks up $35 mln

LightSpeed, a commerce platform for retailers, said Wednesday that it has secured $35 million in funding. iNovia Capital and return backer Accel Partners led the round.

Busbud snags $9 mln Series A

According to a blog post on its site, Busbud has raised $9 million in Series A funding. OMER Ventures and Revolution Ventures led the round with participation from iNovia Capital and Real Ventures. Based in Montreal, Busbud helps users book bus travel. To read the announcement, visit here.

Altos Ventures and iNovia Capital back Allocadia

Allocadia Software has raised $7 million in Series A financing. Altos Ventures and iNovia Capital led the round with participation from other investors that included Illuminate Ventures and Beehive Holdings. According to the firm, the capital infusion will be used for growth. In addition to the funding, Anthony Lee, a partner at Altos Ventures and Kevin Swan, a partner at iNovia Capital, have been added to Allocadia’s board. Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Allocadia is a provider of marketing performance management cloud solutions.


WorkFusion snags $15 mln Series B funds

WorkFusion, formerly known as CrowdComputing Systems, said Tuesday that it has received $15 million in Series B funding. Mohr Davidow Ventures led the round with participation from previous backers Greycroft Partners, iNovia Capital and RTP Ventures. In conjunction with the funding, Katherine Barr, a general partner at Mohr Davidow Ventures, will join the company’s board of directors. Headquartered in New York City, WorkFusion is a crowd computing platform.


AppDirect snags $35 mln Series C funds

AppDirect said Thursday that it has closed $35 million in Series C funding. New backer Mithril Capital Management led the round with participation from previous investors that include iNovia Capital and Foundry Group. In addition to the funding, Ajay Royan of Mithril has been added to AppDirect’s board of directors. Based in San Francisco, AppDirect is a cloud service marketplace.

Intel completes VC-backed Basis Science acquisition

Intel has closed its buy of Basis Science. No financial terms were disclosed. Headquartered in San Francisco, Basis is a wearable device tech company that focuses on health and wellness. Its backers included Norwest Venture Partners, Doll Capital Management, iNovia Capital, Peninsula Ventures and Mayfield Fund.

BASIS Science secures further Series B funds

BASIS Science has raised a further $11.75 million in Series B funding. The round included investments from Intel Capital, iNovia Capital, Dolby Family Trust, Stanford University and Peninsula-KCG. Existing investors Mayfield Fund, DCM and Norwest Venture Partners, also participated. This new investment represents the close of the Basis Series B financing, which now totals over $23 million.

Busbud Raises $1M From iNovia & Real Ventures

Busbud said it raised $1 million in a deal co-led by iNovia Capital and Real Ventures. Busbud’s website and free mobile application give travelers access to intercity bus travel information and ticket purchases.

Crowdbase Secures Seed Funding

Canadian start-up Crowdbase has secured $650,000 in seed financing from Real Ventures, iNovia Capital, and Martin-Luc Archambault (Bolidea) to accelerate product development and expand its team. Crowdbase allows teams to share questions, answers, notes, and Web links in a private social network.

Cloud Service Marketplace AppDirect Raises $8.5M

San Francisco-based AppDirect, which helps users manage their cloud-based software and services, has raised $8.5 million in Series A funding from existing investors iNovia Capital and Stingray Digital. Beyond the Rack Racks up $36M Equity Round

Canadian e-tailer Beyond the Rack reeled in $36 million in VC bucks from investors Panorama Capital, the California VC that read the round, and other investors Export Development Canada, Tandem Expansion Fund, Rho Canada, Inovia Capital, Highland Capital Partners and BDC Capital. Shahan Soghikian, a MD with Panorama Capital, will join Beyond the Rack’s board.

TagMan Seals $5M from Greycroft, iNovia

TagMan, maker of a tag management system, has sealed $5 million in a second round of venture capital, bringing the total raised to $10 million. Greycroft Partners and iNovia Capital led the Series B round. The company closed a $2.3 million Series A round in January.

Empire Avenue Raises $1.2M

Empire Avenue, the Canadian stock market simulation social network, has raised $1.2 million from investors including Crosslink Capital and iNovia Capital. Kevin Swan, Principal at iNovia Capital, and Eric Chin, Partner at Crosslink, worked on the transaction. Specifics were not publicized.

Fixo Secures $6.5 Mln Investment Led by Panorama

Panorama Capital has led a $6.5 million Series B investment in Fixo, a Toronto provider of infrastructure management services for mobile devices. Existing investors Rho Ventures Canada, iNovia Capital, Extreme Venture Partners and management also participated in the round. Panorama, of Menlo Park, Calif, is a VC firm.
