3scale said it raised $4.2 million of new funding in a round from Javelin Venture Partners and Costanoa Venture Capital. The new money will expand the API management company’s service offerings and help it reach a global audience.

Online retailer Coterie has launched. Based in San Francisco, California, Coterie is founded by Bare Escentuals, Sephora, Amazon, YSL and L’Oreal alum. The business is venture backed by SoftTech VC, Javelin Venture Partners and other angel investors focused on e-commerce.

Nexenta Systems Seals $21M From Investors

Menlo Ventures led a $21 million Series C round for Mountain View, Calif.-based storage company Nexenta Systems. Sierra Ventures and Razor’s Edge Ventures also participated, joining existing shareholders Javelin Venture Partners and TransLink Capital. The Series C round will be used for growth.

Sociable Labs, a startup that helps online retailers boost referral traffic, has closed on $7 million in Series B financing. Battery Ventures led the round, with participation from Series A lead investor Javelin Venture Partners. As a result, Battery Ventures partner Brian O’Malley is joining the board.

AppFirst Inks $4M Series A

AppFirst, maker of a application problem resolution system, has closed on $4 million in Series A financing. Javelin Venture Partners led the round, which included participation from FirstMark Capital and First Round Capital. Javelin managing director Noah Doyle is joining the company’s board as a result.
