Javelin Venture Partners leads Series A round for SmartAsset

SmartAsset said Tuesday that it has raised $5.2 million in Series A financing. Javelin Venture Partners led the round with participation from investors that included Denis Grosz, SV Angel and Brendan Wallace, founder of Identified. Based in New York, SmartAsset is a tech platform that provides answers to financial questions.

Plug.dj raises $1.25m to expand music sharing community

Plug.dj, a music sharing site, has closed a $1.25 million funding round led by Javelin Venture Partners. The Los Angeles-based company will use the funds to expand its team, further develop its product, launch new services and improve community support.

Online Ad Company BoostCTR Raises $8M, With Battery Leading

Ad optimization startup BoostCTR has raised an $8 million Series B round led by Battery Ventures. Existing investors Javelin Venture Partners and Western Technology Investment also participated in the round. As part of the deal, Battery General Partner Brian O’Malley has joined the board. The San Francisco-based company has now raised more than $12 million in funding, including a $2 million Series A round earlier this year.

3scale Raises $4.2M From Javelin & Costanoa

3scale said it raised $4.2 million of new funding in a round from Javelin Venture Partners and Costanoa Venture Capital. The new money will expand the API management company’s service offerings and help it reach a global audience.

Menlo Ventures led a $21 million Series C round for Mountain View, Calif.-based storage company Nexenta Systems. Sierra Ventures and Razor’s Edge Ventures also participated, joining existing shareholders Javelin Venture Partners and TransLink Capital. The Series C round will be used for growth.

PowerCloud Spins Out of Incubator With VC Financing

PowerCloud Systems has spun out of thePalo Alto Research Center, a Silicon Valley tech incubator, and inked an undisclosed amount of venture capital financing from San Francisco-based firms Walden Venture Capital and Javelin Venture Partners. PowerCloud, which develops cloud-based technology for the small and medium-sized businesses, has been operating inside the Palo Alto Research Center since 2008.
