Kleiner-Backed Fisker Mulls Bankruptcy as Investor Search Persists

Hybrid automaker Fisker Automotive has hired law firm Kirkland & Ellis to advise it on a possible bankruptcy filing, a source said on Thursday, while executives continue their search for a strategic investor. The company, founded in 2007, has raised more than $1 billion in venture capital, including $103.67 million last September 2012 from Advanced Equities Inc., Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and New Enterprise Associates.

Prior to joining SLS, Brendan was at Kirkland & Ellis in Chicago, where he represented private equity and venture capital funds and their portfolio companies in M&A transactions, equity and debt financings, public offerings and key strategic business relationships.

The Riverside Company has added Houston-based Jacosoft to its Emergency Communications Network platform. ECN provides critical, time-sensitive communications and has a presence in all 50 states and Canada. Kirkland & Ellis advised Riverside on the deal, and Maranon Capital provided financing.

Kirkland & Ellis Relocates Debolt To Hong Kong To Expand Asia PE Practice

Kirkland & Ellis International LLP relocated Partner Michel Debolt to Hong Kong from London. The move is designed to expand the firm’s private equity practice in Asia. Debolt advises private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies in Asia, Europe and North America. He focuses on mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, interim and final liquidity realizations, equity restructurings and executive compensation, the firm said.
