VC-Backed BTI Systems Names Tod Nielsen To Its Board

Ottawa-based BTI Systems Inc. has named software industry veteran Tod Nielsen to the company’s board of directors. Nielsen recently helped establish the EMC/VMware spin-off Pivotal Initiative. Prior to that he was with VMware, Borland and Microsoft. BTI, a provider of intelligent networking software and systems, has been venture-backed since 2000. Its investors include Bain Capital Ventures, BDC Venture Capital, Covington Funds, Export Development Canada, GrowthWorks and Kodiak Venture Partners.

AppNexus Appoints Two New Board Members

AppNexus has appointed two new board members Brian McAndrews, former CEO of aQuantive and Edwin J. Gillis, former executive advisor to Skype. McAndrews is a venture partner with the Madrona Venture Group and is also on the boards of portfolio company AdReady, The New York Times Company, Clearwire Corporation, Fisher Communications and Seamless.

GlassHouse Technologies Pulls IPO Plans

GlassHouse Technologies, a provider of cloud, virtualization, security and data center managed services, has pulled plans for an initial public offering, the company announced Tuesday. GlassHouse, which has raised money from investors including Sigma Partners, Kodiak Venture Partners, GrandBanks Capital, Globespan Capital Partners and Paladin Capital Group, cited volatile market conditions as the reason for nixing its IPO plans.

Allegro Diagnostics Closes on $5.4M

Allegro Diagnostics, a Maynard, Mass.-based developer of molecular testing platforms, has raised $5.4 million in Series A extension financing. Existing shareholders Kodiak Venture Partners and Catalyst Health Ventures participated in the round. The round will help the company support the commercialization of its lead genomic test, designed to detect early signs of lung cancer.

Ideeli.com Lands $41M in VC

Flash sale website ideeli.com has closed on whopping $41 million from a slew of venture investors including Next World Capital, Cue Ball Capital, StarVest Partners, Constellation Growth Capital and Kodiak Venture Partners, Reuters reported. The money will help ideeli.com offer shoppers more brands and improve its technology, Reuters said. The company previously raised upwards of $24 million across two earlier rounds.
