MindMeld Creator Expect Labs Raises $2.4M From KPG, Google, Angels and More

Expect Labs, which recently came out of stealth to announce a voice and video calling app for the iPad that understands conversations in real-time, has raised $2.4 million in funding from KPG Ventures, IDG Ventures, Google Ventures, Greylock Partners, Bessemer Venture Partners and Quest Venture Partners. Several individual investors, including Naval Ravikant, Gil Elbaz and Don Hutchison, also invested. The San Francisco-based company expects to release its app, called MindMeld, in late October.

Travora Media Adds Nile Project to its Offerings

Travora Media, a travel media information company has acquired The Nile Project, a San Francisco-based company with a portfolio of three websites: NileGuide, 10Best, and Localyte and mobile apps focused on providing local expertise to travelers. TuneUp Media Brings in New Chairman

TuneUp Media, the San Francisco-based maker of iTunes apps, has brought on a digital media veteran in Scott Kauffman to lead the company’s board of directors as chairman. He has served in executive roles with GeekNet, BlueLithium, Zinio, MusicNow and Adknowledge, among others. Prior investors in TuneUp include KPG Ventures and IDG Ventures.

Lexy Gets Seeded

Lexy, a provider of a mobile news and entertainment publishing solution, has raised $1.25 million in seed capital from KPG Ventures.
